Week 8 – Tick Tock, Tick Tock

Time is of the essence.  How often have you heard this?  Everyday I we are rushing, rushing, rushing trying to beat the clock.  Every where we go is based on time.  AND, what is the one thing, besides money, that we always complain that we wish we had more of…..wait for it…..wait for it…..yep that’s right my friends….TIME!!!

Don’t most of us feel like time is always slipping away from us or even worse we are chasing time and getting NOWHERE.  This is what time feels like for a good portion of today’s society, like it is spiraling away from us into that black hole of nothing-ness.

Worse that the spiraling, we fight for only so long and then, we fall into the all too familiar corner of complacency.  We become numb to the fact that others, often times our loved ones, are depending upon us to be there for them at a particular time and well, this is what we have reduced ourselves to.

We all too often, let’s face it, really it is EVERYDAY, that we as a society live, breathe and exist by that stupid CLOCK!!!  We try to glorify it with beautiful depictions of a clock, the ornate grandfather clocks , the church clocks with the chimes that call all to gather all the way to Big Bend, the largest “clock” in the world, well at least for now it is.

Is this REALLY the way to live? I know, I know….this is the way we have been programmed for all our lives.  You know what I say to that???? WHO CARES!!!!  This is OUR life, not someone else’s and we need to take over our own lives.

Ok, so what does that mean.  WOW what a loaded question!  Well, the easiest answer is to look at how we live our lives.  Do we watch that clock all week for the 5 o’clock bell or do we look back at the week and say WOW, what day is it again?????  Oh wait….is that a shift in mentality??????   A crack in the cement?????

YES IT IS!!!!!!!!!!!

cracking buddha

Keep cracking that cement!

So, how should we live.  Well, we have all heard recently about living by the compass.  HUH?  For those that don’t understand, let’s take it back to our dreams.  What are they?  What is your definite major purpose in life?  What steps are you taking to achieve it?

I can hear it now (because this is what a lot of Subby’s are saying) WHAT???? I don’t have enough time to work on this?  There aren’t enough hours in the day!!!  Let me let you in on a little secret….THERE HAVE NEVER BEEN ENOUGH HOURS IN THE DAY AND THER NEVER WILL BE!!!!!!!!!!  The key is what do you do with the hours that you do have?  Are you wasting it surfing on the internet on mindless activities?  Are you stuck on level 71 in Candy Crush? Well, ARE YOU??????  Is that getting you where you want?  I can tell you that I know for a fact that IT IS NOT!!!!!!!!!!!!

The clock, the expectations of others and all those other pressures that others put on us are not advancing us into our dreams or to achieving our DMP (definite major purpose).  BAM, just like that!  Isn’t that where we are truly headed?  How are we heading there?  Do we have a map that is taking us there?  Are we on course?  What will keep us on course???   A COMPASS!!!

compass and map

We know where we want to go, where we want to be and where we want to end up.  Do we have that map laid out so we know where we are and where we need to go next?  Only YOU can answer that.  What are you letting direct you on your life’s course?

Ok, let’s cut to the chase….quit living by the clock and starting living your dreams!  That is the best thing we can remember, LIVE YOUR DREAMS!

We want to end with this…..WHAT IS YOUR DREAM?  This is Hollywood…..let’s live like it is, choose the compass and let’s not live by that clock anymore, we promise it is a choice you will never regret!!!!

  1. Thanks for reminding me, as I was rushing towards the end of the workday, to stop & look at my compass instead of my clock. It just put my day in a totally different perspective.

  2. Thanks TeamSki777 for expanding on the concept of living by the compass vs. the clock. It is so important to make the shift if indeed optimal living is desired. Love, love, love the various photos of clocks (I love photos) to make your points…and the compass. Keep inspiring us.
